The 10th Episcopal District is excited to announce it has raised $30,000 in response to the African Methodist Episcopal Church Council of Bishops (COB) call to support those affected by the devastating wildfires in California.
In a powerful display of solidarity, unity, and compassion, the 10th Episcopal District congregations collected funds to send to those impacted by the catastrophic fire damage in California. This devastation has ravaged communities, claimed lives, and left many homeless. Among those most affected are AME clergy and laity—over 40 members of Rev. Larry Campbell’s congregation alone have lost their homes. Scenes from the fire-ravaged areas have been described as “Apocalyptic,” underscoring the urgent need for emotional and material support. Pastors and congregations across Texas responded swiftly by collecting “Love Offerings” on Sunday, January 19th.
Several episcopal leaders, including Bishop and Supervisor Brailsford, traveled to California for the COB Retreat and the Women’s Missionary Society Executive Board Meeting (January 2025), their presence serving as a tangible sign of our shared commitment to restoration, healing, and hope. During the visit, our Episcopal leadership assessed the damage firsthand, met with those impacted, and distributed prayers and resources on behalf of our global church family.
This $30,000 is not just a number—it is a testament to our church’s unwavering faith in action. It represents love, sacrifice, and a deep understanding of what it means to be one body in Christ. More importantly, it is a lifeline for those affected by the wildfires, providing them with the hope and resources they desperately need. We are grateful for every church, pastor, and individual who gave with such generosity and urgency. We continue to encourage prayers for California and all those affected by this tragedy. May our efforts bring comfort and encouragement, and may God multiply every dollar given to bring about restoration and renewal.
Thank you for your compassion, your giving, and your unwavering commitment to our brothers and sisters in need. Your continued support is crucial as we work towards the restoration and renewal of the affected areas. Together, we are making a difference.
